Bridal Makeup and Hair FAQ's

A trial is not mandatory but highly recommended so that we can discuss your vision and our  recommendations as well as try out the full look and wear it, see how it photographs etc so you  can see if there are any necessary adjustments. Trials usually take approximately 1.5 hours for  hair OR makeup and 3 hours for both. We also offer a multi trial where we can transition your hair and or makeup look from a natural to a smokey eye or a downstyle to a half up or upstyle which takes apx 2 hours for hair OR makeup and 4 hours for hair AND makeup. (Please note it is one look that transitions to another not two completely different looks) See service page for pricing.  Trials are done in the comfort of your own home.  We suggest you aim to have your trial approximately 2-6 months prior to your wedding date.

Yes! However, booking a trial does not secure your wedding date. If another bride inquires about your date, you will receive a courtesy e-mail to notify you. A date is only secured with a retainer and signed contract. Since we cannot hold the date without deposit we recommend trying to do the trial as soon as possible to ensure available. 

We typically reserve weekend dates (Friday - Sunday) for weddings or other larger events , so we cannot guarantee weekend availability for a trial. If there were other's interested in having hair and or makeup done for your shower or event and you met the four service minimum  then we could book you in. If availability permits we can put you in tentatively but cannot reserve weekend spot under four service minimum. Something to consider for using your trial for your eshoot or bridal shower is if you want your hair and makeup to be the same for both events, as the trial would be the same look you would be doing the day of the wedding. Sometimes people book these as separate bookings and do different looks for each.

We do not carry retail or sell any product currently so we are not loyal to any one brand. Michele and her team all use a variety of high end products and tools in their kits, for makeup some brands include but are not limited to, MAC, Anastasia Beverly hills, Tart, Smashbox, Bobbi Brown, Benefit, Fenty beauty and many more. For hair, including but not limited to Sebastian, Osis, Sexy Hair, Kenra,  Hot Tools, Ion, Kevin Murphy, etc. 

Airbrush is a light-weight makeup applied through an air gun machine that produces a thin, even  layer of makeup and creates a natural finish. Finish can be  thin or heavy depending on the application.  Airbrush is an add on service which is $30/ per service. It is a personal preference, I  love the finish of both airbrush with its natural and buildible coverage, as well as traditional foundation. Both are water resistant and are primed and set with powder to ensure longevity. 

Of course! We love a multicultural bridal party and love to enhance and celebrate all skin tones and ethnicities. Every artist on Michele's team carries a wide variety of foundation and concealer to match the lightest to darkest skin tones and everything in between. With the countless faces our artists have worked on they are experts with all skin tones. 

In order to book Michele Gomes's team for you wedding or special event, we have a four service minimum per artist. This refers to to hair OR makeup, each counts as one service. However, some of our artists do only hair or makeup and not both. For example, if you had 2 people for both hair and makeup , if we had an artist available who does both it would count as four services but if we only have artists who do hair or makeup it would be only two each.  Michele Gomes  typically does bride only services , so if you are booking with her personally and want to book her team for your other guests, it would be a four service minimum for her team and premium pricing for Michele's services as outlined on services page.  If you do not meet the four service minimum, alternatively you can pay an additional artist fee of $100 for under four services.

We use high end cosmetics and hair brands in our kit as well as prep, prime and set our makeup and hair looks. Everything is water resistant and long lasting, but you will need to touch up your lip and maybe bring some blot papers or powder to eliminate shine throughout the day. If you are working with Michele Gomes personally she will provide you with a mini touch up kit which includes blotting papers and a lip touch up. Her team will provide the bride with sample lip product to touch up with. 

If you would like an artist to return before your reception to touch up your hair and makeup, it would be $320 for one hour to touch up brides hair and makeup and other guests who had their hair and makeup done in the morning if time permits. Anything after 1 hour would be an additional $100 per hour. Depending on location a travel fee would apply for return service or if its too far to leave and come back we have a half day booking for four hours after end time and that would be $400. If you require a change of look for hair and or makeup it would be $350 for return service plus travel and hst.  

No. You would be surpised how much work goes in to a "natural" look. We use the same amount of time, product and expertise when creating looks that may seem simple. 

We are based in Etobicoke and predominantly work in the GTA but we also accommodate bookings in places like Muskoka, Grand Bend, Kingston, etc. There is a travel fee of .60 cents per km per artist and for locations further than 120km we require accommodation for the artists that is within a half hour drive from the getting ready location.

On top of being a certified makeup artist and hairstylist, Michele is also an OCT certified teacher  and provides both one on one lessons as well as group lessons. She will guide you through the proper techniques and give you insider tips and tricks to enhance your beauty routine.  Packages for one on one lessons start at $250 for two hours, and group lessons start at $150. **Prices may vary depending on number of people, location and other details. We accept cash and email transfer!

That is  up to you, tips are always welcomed and appreciated but not expected. You can tip the artists directly or through Michele Gomes via etransfer with remaining balance for services to pass along to the artists. 

Policy for rescheduling, in the event of having to reschedule for another date for any reason, your deposit would be non-refundable but transferable to your new date for ONE new date only, with a rescheduling fee of $100 that would be paid at the time of reissuing revised paperwork. If moving that date another time the deposit would be forfeit, it would be considered a cancellation and you would need to resign a new contract with a new deposit. If moving to a new calendar year there will also be an annual increase of $10 per service per person, so you will be responsible to pay the additional cost which would be added to the remaining balance paid the day of or before the wedding. The rescheduling fee would be applied to all rebooking cases with the exception of lockdown orders being in place when your wedding is meant to take place and being legally unable to proceed at that time, then the rescheduling fee would be waived.
